Sim’dorei Screenshots – Fairsong Academy, Entrance and Library

Situated inside the gates is the front entrance to the school.  The first room functions as a greeting area, and is open with the sitting room.  To the right upon entering, looking past the grand piano, is the library, where the students gather to read and study their lessons before going to their individual practice rooms.

Hethurin’s Notes

  • He left me.  He went to the kitchen to check on the cake.  The dining room is right next to the kitchen and the only way out of the kitchen is out the door to the garden.  I guess he could have been hiding in Tik’s room or the pantry, but that would be weird.  I’m pretty sure he left out the kitchen door.

  • I wanted to talk to him more, but I guess he doesn’t have any ideas either.

  • And I guess that means there’s nothing to do about it.  It will eventually cause problems.  I don’t want other people calling him nasty things like that, and I want people to know this is a good school and I’m not like that.

  • Still, I would have liked to see him before he left.

  • I tried bringing it up with the Confessor at first.  I got the feeling he thought I was making something out of nothing, but my father already called Terellion a prostitute.  If my own father thinks that, then other people are going to as well.

  • And he’s not a prostitute.  He works here and we fell in love.  There’s nothing wrong with that, but it reminds me of a guy my sisters used to talk about in Silvermoon.  He fell in love with his housekeeper and there was a big scandal about it!  I really can’t have that here.

  • And the things the housekeeper was called!  Even if most of it was behind her back, she must have heard about some of it.  I’d feel awful if people talked that way about Terellion.  I feel bad enough already about what my father said.  I can’t even tell him.  I wanted them to get along eventually someday, and if he knew…

  • I guess that doesn’t matter since he’s left.

  • I wish he had at least tried to help find a solution instead of disappearing.

  • Aeramin was staying here last night.  I wasn’t sure if he was here at first.  Sometimes he stays at the inn in town, but I knocked lightly on his door around 2 a.m.  I know Imralion must have been there too, but Aeramin was the one who came to the door.  I asked if we could talk, and he said he was kind of trying to sleep, but then he came with me anyway.

  • We went to my study, which was way on the other side of the house, but I didn’t want anyone to overhear anything, especially students.  Des has heard enough as it is.  Anyway, I told him everything, from just starting to tell Terellion that I loved him, to him leaving earlier that night.  I started wondering aloud if Ter was going to come back, and that’s when Aeramin said, “Now you know what I went through.”

  • I quickly reminded him that it wasn’t about us, and he stated he was just pointing out a similarity.

  • Fine.  I didn’t want to fight with him too, so I dropped it.  I asked him what he would do.

  • I had to wait while he thought about it.  Then he gave me that look, and told me that he learned some things in the past year.  It doesn’t matter how dangerous it is, I had to go find him.  He could have gotten lost in the woods at night, and that’s not a very good thing to do around here.

  • I asked Aeramin if he would substitute for the morning lesson.  He reluctantly agreed.  I tried to show him my notes for it, but he wasn’t so sure about using them.  I told him to just make sure they learn something before he has to go back to Tranquillien.  He seemed to agree with that.  I teleported to Tranquillien then.  I figured he could show himself back upstairs by himself.

  • Most of the sin’dorei in Tranquillien were asleep at that hour, but the undead were awake.  They don’t sleep.  That’s a little creepy, and it’s even creepier talking to them.  This one guy gurgled when he talked.  It was gross.  I talked to every single one I could find, but none of them had seen anyone looking like Terellion.

  • I left a note under the Confessor’s door asking him to watch for him too.  I also apologized about the other night, even though I don’t think I’m the one who should be apologizing.  I’ll need to talk to him a lot if anything has happened to Terellion.

  • Anyway, I started walking back home, hoping I’d find him along the way and that he’d be okay.  There was only a hint of light in the eastern sky, and it was still very dark.  I kept hearing things, and I kept calling for him.  Then I heard more things, and I turned around and there was an undead thing there.  Not one of the smart ones who know not to eat my brain, but one of the dumb ones.  I screamed.  I ran too, but then I thought of a better idea and timeported.

  • So now I’m at the inn in Eversong, in a different time.  It’ll give me a little time to think and make a plan to find him safely.  I can timeport back to the same time I left.  I might want to pick a different place though.

  • So far, I’ve spent most of my time here crying.  The only thing I can think of is using my disk to search for Terellion more quickly.  I’ll have to go back home for that, which is fine because I need a different place to timeport back to anyway.

  • If I haven’t found him by noon, I might go back home and ask Renner to help look for him, or I could go to Silvermoon and see if he ever showed up there.  I’m sure I can find the address.

Sim’dorei Screenshots – Fairsong Academy’s Cellar

I have so many screenshots of Fairsong Academy now that I decided to give each part its own little feature post, and starting from the bottom up.  So here we have the most boring of rooms, the cellar.

Aeramin’s Notes

  • We’re still in the Ghostlands.  I had hoped to go back home by now, but the house needs a lot more work than I first thought it did.  Some of the boards in the walls are rotting, as well as the ceiling.  I might as well say we’re building a whole new house.  At least it’s going faster with Imralion here.  He can pick up things that I couldn’t, and having someone I trust to hold the ladder is just so much more better than when I had to ask Arancon to do it.  He never tipped it over, but he would shake it.  I do wonder sometimes what makes him so hateful.  I’m not that bad.  I think I turned out fairly okay.  He doesn’t even know about things he could really hate me for.

  • Anyway, I’m used to it.  I don’t think Imralion is.  He doesn’t say much directly to Im, which is good.  I’d get angry if he did, but Im sees the way he treats me.  Im’s been an orphan most of his life, and now I feel like I’m breaking what his idea of family is.  Of course, I don’t think many families are happy all the time either, but they’re a lot better at pretending at it than my father is.

  • He’s been staying at the inn while we’re still knocking down walls and rebuilding them.  Unfortunately, he still wanders over to the house to “check on the progress”.  I’ve told him to stop doing that.  Technically, it’s my house.  I bought it and it’s in my name.  I’ll let him know when it’s done and he can move in.  The more he leaves us alone to work on it, the quicker it will be done.  There’s no reason for him to check on it.  It will be fine to live in when we’re done.  He still comes over anyway.  It’s funny how his injury keeps him from doing any work, but he can get around well enough to come over and make rude comments all of the time.

  • I thought about hiring extra people to get it done, but I think Im and I can handle it.  I’m trying to keep the cost down, but the way it’s going, it’ll cost more to repair than it’s really worth.  It’ll just be worse if I hire people as well.

  • My father has been drinking at the inn and charging the drinks to the room.  I’m paying for his drinking.  I’d mind less if he stayed in his room more.  I almost asked the innkeeper to stop serving him alcohol, but then he might trash the room or start a fight or something.  If the drinks keep him quiet for now, then I guess I can pay for them for another week or two.

  • Im and I have been staying at the inn occasionally too.  I prefer staying at the school.  The room at the school is a lot nicer than any of the rooms at the inn.  There’s a big bath in the room next to it, and the bed is so comfortable.  It’s warmer too.  There’s a fireplace right in the room.  I think a lot of the rooms at the school have them.  I’d hate to be the one making sure there’s enough wood to burn for the entire building, though I guess some of it is still closed off.  The upstairs looks fully occupied, but most of the southern section of the downstairs is still closed off.

  • I’m still giving the fire magic lessons there.  I’ve been told that some of the other students may wish to attend the class too.  He was talking about setting up a separate classroom for it.  I guess that’s okay as long as he doesn’t run out of rooms.

Alternate Realities 3

Hethurin Fairsong stood next to the table in Renner’s practice room.  The small globe of light he had conjured faded out as he began to cast another spell.  The room shimmered as the vision appeared.

“Silvermoon?” Hethurin asked with his brow raised.  “Why would I be in Silvermoon?”

Renner looked around.  “This is your parents’ house, isn’t it?  Perhaps you still live here.”

It was indeed his parents’ home, and the home he grew up in.  They stood in the dining room, or rather, the vision was situated in the dining room.  There weren’t any people in the room.  “Perhaps, but then, where am I?  The hourglass is still tuned to me, right?”

Renner nodded as an older woman entered the room.  She carried with her some plates and silver, and began setting them on the table.

Hethurin stepped back, wary even in the vision, “That’s my mother.”  He watched as she set four places at the table.  “I’m here, and someone else.  Lani?  She wouldn’t live in the Ghostlands if it wasn’t for me being there too.  Or Esladra?  She’s still studying and lives at home.”

Renner shook his head.  “If you’re here, you should be nearby.  There is another possibility, of course.”

“What is that?”

Renner nodded at Hethurin’s mother as she set the fourth place at the table.  “You were never born.  In that case, the hourglass would take you to one, or both, of your parents, or if they never existed, then whoever may be your closest relative.  Your father works in an office in the front of the home, doesn’t he?”

Hethurin nodded, “He does, but why wouldn’t I have been born?  My mother wanted a boy more than anything.”  Hethurin glanced up the stairs, tempted to go look in his old room, before looking back to Renner and noticing he had already found a possible clue.

Renner stood facing the wall, looking up at one of the paintings hanging over a decorative table pressed up against the wall.  “There are only four children in this image.”

Hethurin walked over to see.  He frowned as he looked at it.  It seemed to be an older painting.  He recognized his parents.  Vallindra and Lani stood next to them.  Seated in front them was a young boy, and an even younger girl.  Even that young, he recognized the girl as Nessna.  He pointed at the boy, “Who is that?”

Renner didn’t answer.  Hethurin figured he didn’t because deep down he knew the answer.  He watched as his mother left the room.

“Do you want to keep watching?”

“I never met him.  I think I’d like to see who he would have been.  No one even spoke to me directly about him.  I only know what I’ve overheard.  He died in his sleep as a baby.  How is he alive here?”

Renner shrugged in silence as the kitchen door swung open again.  This time, Hethurin’s mother brought a casserole out and placed it on the middle of the table before leaving through another door.

“She’s going to the office in front.”

A few minutes later, she returned, followed by Lanthiriel.  Lanthiriel no sooner than took her seat, when the door opened again.  Their father walked in, talking with a younger male.

Hethurin looked at Renner, “That’s him.  He’s a priest?  I guess my father must like that.”  He was a bit agitated that his older brother had become what he could never be.  He had tried helping out in the office, but the sight of blood left him feeling light-headed.  Magic seemed much more natural to him, and while he enjoyed being a mage, it still stung to see his brother would have done everything to make his parents happy. He knew his parents were disappointed with him about more than one thing.  Hethurin glanced at the painting again. “Where are Vallindra and Nessna?”

“It’s difficult to say without exploring the timeline more.”

The family sitting at the table talked amongst themselves as they began to eat.  Hethurin frowned at the topic, marriage.  Some things never changed.  Even in this timeline, his mother was busy picking out spouses.

“Did you meet with Magister Silvermark for lunch, Lani?  He was very eager to meet you.” their mother asked.

Lanthiriel frowned, “Yes.  He was boring, and had a large gap between his two front teeth.  You really don’t want to do that to your grandchildren, do you?  They could get it from him.”

“He’s very well-off.  He would be perfect to help you set up your own office on the other side of town.  With Vaildor working with your father now too, it’s getting cramped here, isn’t it?  Besides, your teeth are perfect.  That’s sure to offset it.”

Their father nodded silently as he ate.  Lanthiriel frowned, “Shouldn’t Vallindra get married first?”

“She’s still in Dalaran.  We have no way of knowing when she’ll be rescued, besides, Nessna never argued.”

“Because she wanted to get married.”  Lanthiriel muttered.

Hethurin glanced at Renner, noticing that he was paying more attention to the food on the table than the conversation.

“Isn’t our supper almost ready?”  Renner asked, his eyes never leaving the food on the table.

Hethurin nodded and cast the spell to end the vision.  “Let’s go eat.”

Stories

Aranae Lightmist sat at the top of the stairs along one of the paths at the Peak of Serenity.  Her foot still hurt when she walked, but with the help of her staff, she was able to get around okay.  They had tried to convince her to stay, to go home with the rest of the elves.  She was certain Lani had already written home about her by that point.  She was glad no one had come to take her back to Silvermoon before that orc had been found.  She was free to go then, as it was time to take down the healer’s tent.  She had slipped away from the group heading towards the portals back to Silvermoon and was fortunate enough to find a mage who knew how to make a portal to Pandaria.

Lani had done everything she could to keep Aranae there, even telling her that Nessna had been severely injured.  Aranae wasn’t sure how much Lani was exaggerating.  She could make a big deal out of a stubbed toe sometimes.  Aranae decided it would be safer to send a letter home after she returned to the Peak.  Her foot would be healed soon, and she would be able to leave if they came looking for her here.

She smiled a little as she watched the monks training in the area below the steps.  She wasn’t sure where she would go when she could leave, but she did hope to see Tsi Ku again.  Maybe Master Cheng would know where to find her.

***

Theronil Whitemorn woke.  It was still dark, but it was something he had become accustomed to in Kalimdor.  There, it had been most convenient to wake early and take advantage of the cooler morning temperatures.  It was less convenient in Shattrath.

He put his arm around Isandri, who was still asleep, and rested his hand on her belly.  If the baby was awake, he or she wasn’t kicking.  Theronil kissed Isandri’s cheek.  They would soon be parents.  With that would come responsibility.  He wanted to have everything ready, but the one thing he didn’t have yet was work.  He had, before being drafted to support the efforts in Kalimdor, found the perfect shop to set up as his own.  He opted to wait until returning from Kalimdor, and when he did, the shop had already been sold to someone else.  He had to start his search all over again.

For now, he would try to sleep a little longer.  He cuddled close to Isandri and closed his eyes.

***

Keyalenn Goldbrand wrote a few more lines in his notes before making a slight change in the spell and recasting.  The Magister had given him lots to work on lately, though the total amount of work had seemed to lessen in the past week.  Keyalenn hated it all the same, no matter how much there was of it.  He didn’t see the point of casting multiple spell variations, and writing down the results if you already knew what would happen.  The worst part was that the Magister always checked his notes, and took notice if precise descriptions and measurements were not used.

Then there was Des.  He was able to finish earlier over the past week, and had been able to make it to supper in the grand dining hall instead of eating alone in his practice room.  She was almost always there.  Had she been looking at him and flipping her hair on purpose?  She had, so far, managed to ignore any of his advances, or so he thought.  Perhaps he had been wrong.

***

Lanthiriel Lightmist  walked down the stairs of her new home.  Rylad had woke early this morning.  She decided to stay awake after helping Nessna tend to him.  Nessna would need help daily as she recovered from her injuries.  She had already made so much progress since leaving the tent in Kalimdor where she had almost died.  Lani hadn’t told anyone about that, and all her help had been out of the tent at that point, but Nessna had stopped breathing for almost a minute.  She really had almost died.  Lani was relieved to see her doing better each day.

Lani walked into the kitchen, and put a log on the fire in the stove.  The stove in the kitchen served two purposes in this home.  It was used both for cooking and for heat, and she needed it for both right now.  The nights were getting cooler, and breakfast needed to be made.  It was a small house so only the heat of one fire was needed to warm it.  Tik had told her that it was previously the home of the stable master, and that the man had spent more time in the stable than in the house.  He had truly loved the animals that he cared for.

Lani got out the eggs that she had bought the day before.  She wondered briefly if there were chickens here before as she cracked them and started making breakfast.
